Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA)
- What it is: SFMA is a full body assessment method that can tweeze out the root cause of many pain related disorders even if the source is at a distance from the area of pain or weakness. The system relies on movements through specific patterns with follow up positions that can then be incorporated into a more complete diagnosis and direction of treatment for the individual. It has opened the eyes of many patients and therapists about the actual cause of the of pain and how to relieve it.
- What it helps with: It can be used to assist with diagnosing and directing the treatment of care in most pain causing symptoms. These include but are not limited to strains/sprains, disc herniations, arthritic or degenerative injuries, balance deficits, postural dysfunctions, repetitive strain injuries, limitations to ranges of motion, and old injuries once thought healed.
